Explore 50 Shades of Blue in This Magical Moroccan Maze

Home / Bucket List / Explore 50 Shades of Blue in This Magical Moroccan Maze

You might be wondering….

How does a city end up blue?

There are two theories as to how this city ended up 50 shades of blue. The fist says it was painted by its Jewish settlers who escaped Hitler back in the 30’s as a way to be reminded of God’s power.

The second theory says that painting the buildings blue will keep the mosquitos away. Either way, the city is a picture-perfect place to explore and the fact that it’s seaside is a bonus!

Since you can’t fly in or out of Chefchaouen, day trips are a popular way to explore the city. A day trip from Tangier to Chefchaouen ranges between $50-$75 USD.

While you’re there, indulge in some traditionalMoroccan mint tea. And of course you have to experience the traditional Moroccan hammam which is like a sauna/bathhouse.
