As TLC so famously sang… “don’t go chasing waterfalls”

That advice is easy to heed with this one, because it is underwater. Say whhhat?

Yup, located in the Indian Ocean, the island of Mauritius is a tropical paradise and home to one of the world’s greatest wonders, an underwater waterfall. Visible from the air on the southwest corner of the island, this majestic sight is a major tourist attraction but (spoiler alert), it isn’t technically a waterfall… it’s an optical illusion of epic proportions.

So what is it exactly? Not falling water, but sand and silt from the nearby beaches being carried off the island’s plateau by oceanic currents.
